Surface means function.

Hard chrome, Tenifer QPQ, Metcoloy 2 and ceramic coatings complement precision manufacturing with wear and corrosion protection, dimensional build-up and tailored sliding properties.

The final step matters too

A precision component is only complete when its surface suits its purpose.

Functional surfaces face friction, process media, temperature and mechanical loads. Hard chrome can create hard, wear-resistant surfaces. On suitable steels and cast irons, Tenifer QPQ improves wear and corrosion resistance and sliding properties.

Metcoloy 2 provides hard, thermally sprayed build-up coatings for worn functional areas. Depending on the material and structure, ceramic coatings provide high wear resistance. Additional sealing can close pores and protect the coating against liquids and gases.

Range of processes

Treatment follows operating demands

We start with the required component behaviour, not a particular process.

01

Chemical processes

Chemical and electrochemical treatments for defined surface properties.

02

Hard chrome plating

Electroplated hard chrome coatings for high hardness, wear protection, corrosion resistance and restoration of heavily used functional surfaces.

03

Tenifer QPQ

Salt bath nitrocarburising with post-treatment to improve wear and corrosion resistance and sliding properties in suitable steels and cast irons.

04

Ceramic coating

Hard, wear-resistant functional coatings, for example Cr2O3, tailored to the material, medium and mating surface.

05

Metcoloy 2

Thermally sprayed iron-chromium build-up coating for hardness, wear allowance and restoration of heavily used machine parts.

06

Thermal processes

Thermal and thermochemical treatments to modify surface layer properties.

07

Sealing and finishing

Pores in thermally sprayed coatings can be sealed and functional surfaces subsequently machined to specification.

08

Coordinated partner processes

Specialist processes are coordinated through long-standing partners and planned as part of the overall manufacturing solution.

Starting with the objective

Protect, harden and support service life.

Surface treatment is integrated into the manufacturing solution. Base material, dimensional requirements, coating structure, sealing and final machining remain coordinated.

What demands must your component withstand?

Let’s define its surface through its function.

Tell us the material, medium, mating surface and required properties. We will assess whether hard chrome, Tenifer QPQ, Metcoloy 2, ceramics, sealing or another coating system makes sense.
